In 1999, Hugo Jankowitz ascended a makeshift staircase, perched above Nettleton Road. Upon reaching the summit, he was greeted by an awe-inspiring panorama of Lion’s Head, Table Mountain, the 12 Apostles, and the vast ocean. In that transformative moment, he envisioned the perfect spot to manifest his dream residence—a timeless, elegant, and iconic hilltop abode infused with character. Over time, fueled by his passion for exploration, Hugo chose to open his home, art, and panoramic vistas to fellow travellers in search of the unique and luxurious, yet deeply personal.
The history of Nettleton intertwines with the growth of Clifton, creating a narrative that spans generations. The transformation of the house into a boutique hotel in 2016 marked the beginning of a new chapter.
